This site is a tribute to Betty Kearsley. She is much loved and will always be remembered.
Our mum, Betty, was born on 5th November 1940 in West Mersea, Essex. Her early years were uneventful but, when she was a young child, she was diagnosed with the hereditary condition Retinitis Pigmentosa which eventually led to her losing her sight.
She spent her teenage years in Chorleywood at a special boarding school for blind and visually impaired girls and she had many happy memories of her time there.
She did not have an easy life but she successfully managed to raise her two daughters, despite her disability and kept an immaculate home. Many people have said to us how in awe they were of her. She prided herself on always looking well dressed and had an impressive collection of handbags!
Her home, where she had lived for the past 50 years or so, was her safe haven and where she was at her happiest. We take comfort in the fact that this was where she died, knowing that this is what she would have wanted.
RIP Mum; you will always be in our hearts and thoughts 💕
Family flowers only please. Donations if desired may be given online or at the funeral service.
